A Pedagogy-on-Process, The artist teacher in the feminist classroom (2020)
Marijke Appelman (Haarlem, 1979) is a self-employed artist and part-time teacher at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). Her artistic practice explores the visual vernacular of (quick) repairs, photographic printing techniques and leftover materials. She started regularly teaching alongside her artistic practice in 2012 and recently graduated from the Piet Zwart Institute Master Education in Arts with her research: A Pedagogy-in-Process, The artist teacher in the feminist classroom. The starting point for this research has been the continuously under- and misrepresentation of women artists, women artists of colour, non-binary and genderqueer artists in art education today.
