Intervention d’Anja Degner

“I expressed my concerns, that my knowledge […] was so limited that I would hardly be able take on any teaching.” – Käthe Kollwitz and the conflict with teaching

Anja Degner is a PhD Researcher at the Technical University Dresden in Germany. She has a Bachelor’s degree in French and Art History and a Master’s in Art History from the Free University Berlin. Her doctoral research concerns the artist Käthe Kollwitz and women as political subjects in her artworks. In her research she focuses on the mutual interrelations between Kollwitz and the first women’s movement in Germany. Her aim is to contribute to a change of the hegemonial canon in art history and to promote the research of women artists.
